im dying squirtle
Just read a perfectly fine fanfiction that took place in Germany but something that stood out to me was a chapter where the characters walk across a field and is approached by the farmer yelling at them to get off his land.
I’ve come across this plot point a few times and I feel like it’s worth telling writers that most of Europe has some version of Right To Roam. The laws aren’t the same in every country but generally you’re allowed to walk and rest on private property like fields and forests so long as you don’t destroy anything or leave trash, but not gardens or fenced in areas. The owner of the land might put up a sign asking you to follow certain guidelines like no horses or keeping your dog on a leash but but there’s no real repercussions to not following the rules besides the owner eventually fencing the area off so people can’t enjoy it anymore.
I’ve personally walked around on a field while the farmer was harvesting potatoes with his big ass machine and collected the leftovers while my dog was trotting calmly besides me and he looked straight at me and didn’t care one bit because Denmark also has an old tradition of letting people collect what’s left as a form of charity (for my fellow Danes, that’s what “rev vi marken let, det er gammel ret, fuglen og den fattige skal også være mæt” means in the song Marken Er Mejet) This is just a tradition and not a law however so it depends on the farmer.
The very north of Europe like Norway and Sweden even give people the right to put up tents and camp on other people’s private land (except gardens and such). Again, the laws vary from country to country but as a rule of thumb you have more right to roam the further north you go and less the further south but if you want to write in a specific country look up the laws there.
Wow. Yall are really just allowed to exist in public huh?
Made a set of wizard themed blinkies for me and all the other internet wizards out there
Disability Pride month let’s not forget about the people in our community with intellectual disabilities!
I just found out about the Stay Up Late campaign to advocate for people with intellectual disabilities to have the right to go out in the evening and not have to be in bed by 8pm
I learned about it from this video:
And I found the website for the campaign which is here:
Let’s support all members of our community
Hey for disability pride month, shout-out to people with “less than marked” diagnoses!
If you’ve got something with “unspecified” or “otherwise” in your diagnosis name, this one is for you! Your disorder is still real. You are still struggling with something and if that something causes you to need accommodations or causes you to struggle in your day to day life, you can still call yourself disabled. You still deserve the accommodations and care that someone who has a more concrete diagnosis. Your disability is real, your symptoms are real. As frustrating as it is, being classified with an “other” disorder is still disordered and your symptoms are enough. I love you!!!
not an immediate happening, but either deactivating or deleting or smthn soon enough. not direct response to the latest ui fuckery, but i’m not interested much in havin a tumblr anymore.
i don’t keep track, but if i have mutuals, or ig anyone, who wants to get my neocities or discord, i’m gonna double check my dms are open.
The illusion of choice and all that
@staff this is truly a basis for me to never open tumblr desktop again so if that was you guy’s aim congrats, you nailed it!!!! Now if you wanted to keep “what makes Tumblr unique” you have never failed better
if u r trans no matter what ur agab and ur gender may be there is a good chance u will have a voice in ur head telling u that u need to lose weight to pass and to have people take u seriously . that is the voice of the DEVIL do NOT LISTEN TO IT !!!!
I don’t get it, man. why. why do we have to homogenize everything. why does every product have to look and behave and feel the exact same way. why can’t tumblr maintain its individuality? why can’t it lean into the things that make it a unique and refreshing offering instead of scrambling to make it a carbon copy of twitter? sucks, man. sucks.
it’s just like. this broadcasts loud and clear that the people behind the curtain have no pride or faith in this site at all. that tumblr, as a whole, has no worth or merit unless it’s somehow tricking the larger internet community into thinking it’s actually another site. and the users are supposed to celebrate this? where’s the dignity? where’s the self-respect? where’s the joy? it’s disheartening and embarrassing to be forced to conform. smh.
Programming is very Kafkaesque. You’re dealing with this arbitrary system that no one will explain to you because no one actually understands all of it. There are bugs.
Tumblr is giving us a lot of different dashes but the thing is no one wants “for you” so what I propose instead is you give me the ability to make mini-dashes with specific subsets of people I follow. Let me follow 300 people but then sort them into category. Let me have one dash for all my aesthetic stuff, another for news, another for my weird feral friends. Am I the only one who wants this? Maybe. Give it to me anyway.
This would absolutely revolutionize the way I use Tumblr. I would probably spend like 20% more time on Tumblr if I could follow a bunch of people I like but who I do not want on my “these are my friends and idols” dash.
I just saw someone say the words “jokingly gaslight” this might be a good time to reintroduce the internet to the terms “lying” or perhaps “pranking” or even just “joking” on it’s own
Okay, say it with me guys…
If you are giving someone wrong information in the hopes that they’ll believe that it’s true, then that’s lying.
If you are giving someone wrong information under the assumption that they’ll ultimately realise that it’s false, and that they will find this funny, then that’s joking.
If you are giving someone wrong information in the hopes that they’ll believe that it’s true and that their response will be funny, then that’s a prank.
If you are giving someone wrong information in the hopes that they will notice the differences between your presentation of reality and their perception of it, and come to doubt their ability to judge what is and is not real, then that’s gaslighting.
now dont leave this in the tags
